Tried and Tested... Lush Perfume: Cocktail

I popped into my local Lush store after Christmas to check out their sale and maybe pick up some bargains. I was happy to discover they were offering a 50% discount on their perfumes. I've never really looked at their perfumes before (... I always get distracted by the bath bombs!) but as soon as I started testing the vast range of scents I realised I'd been missing out! I finally settled on 'Cocktail' and decided to go for the spritzer which with 50% off was only £8.00.

Lush describes Cocktail as "killer heels in a bottle" and with its powerful scent I'd have to say I agree!

Cocktail has a deep floral scent with a hint of musk. It contains ylang ylang, jasmine and rose orange blossom which create a bold fragrance.  I've only needed to spray a little each time so I'm hoping it should last me a while.

The spritzer's design makes it ideal for popping into your bag to top up throughout the day and it's great for stashing in your make up bag for weekends away too.

Cocktail retails at £8.00 for the solid perfume, £16.00 for the spritzer and £33.00 for the atomiser. You can also purchase a sample size for £3.50 which is handy if you're looking to a try out a few of their different scents. Cocktail is available to buy online at Lush.

What They Wore... Golden Globes 2013

Last night the 70th Annual Golden Globe awards took place in Los Angeles hosted by two of my favourite funny ladies, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. The Hollywood elite were out on the red carpet for the start of awards season.

Classic black was as expected a popular red carpet choice. Flying the flag for Britain singer Adele made her first public appearance since having her baby last year in another black Burberry gown, this time with an embellished neckline. She looked glamorous with her bouffant style hair. She knows what suits her and always looks elegant on the red carpet but I sometimes wish she'd surprise us all and step out in something more colourful! She took home the Golden Globe for 'Best Original Song' for 'Skyfall.' Emily Deschanel really stood out on the red carpet for me in this black Badgley Mischka gown with beaded shoulders. Both Nicole Kidman and Kate Hudson chose Alexander McQueen gowns. Nicole's dress featured a mesh middle with gold studded embellishment. Kate's belted McQueen gown had long sleeves and a keyhole neckline. I loved the extravagant gold metallic collar, pure McQueen perfection!

Anne Hathaway was one of my best dressed of the night in this stunning white Chanel Couture two-piece covered in crystals. She won the Golden Globe for 'Best Supporting Actress' for her role in 'Les Misérables.' Downton Abbey star Michelle Dockery also opted for white with a rich gold overlay in an Alexandre Vauthier Couture gown.

Coral was a hot colour trend on the red carpet. Zooey Deschanel wore a similar princess style shaped gown to what we've seen her wear before at the Emmy's last year.  Her dress is from Oscar de la Renta's Pre-Fall 2013 collection. Zooey dressed her nails for the occasion with film strip nail art. Jessica Alba also chose an Oscar de la Renta dress. She accessorised with a statement diamond necklace and sported coral coloured lips. Claire Danes showed off her post baby body in an Atelier Versace dress with a plunging neckline and thigh high split.

Mermaid style fishtail gowns were a key trend amongst the stars last night. Amy Adams was another of my best dressed of the evening in this stunning nude Marchesa lace gown with a tulle skirt. Following her striking look at the People's Choice Awards last week Taylor Swift got it right again on the red carpet in a purple silk Donna Karan Atelier gown with a cutaway back and fishtail skirt. Hayden Panettiere opted for a light pink structured Roberto Cavalli gown with a subtle fishtail hem.

It wouldn't be an awards ceremony without a touch of sparkle! I loved Isla Fisher's shimmering floor length gown by Reem Acra. In contrast to the ballgowns on the red carpet Thandie Newton opted for a Swarovski crystal embellished mini dress from Giles's Spring 2013 collection.

A special mention goes to Lucy Liu's pretty floral print gown by Carolina Herrera. It seems to have received a mixed reaction in the press but I adored it! She styled her hair in a fishtail braid.

Last but not least Bradley Cooper (.. and not only because who wouldn't want to look at him?!) Livia Firth's Green Carpet Challenge promoting eco friendly style to the A-list is now in its fourth year. Bradley's eco-tux designed by Tom Ford was the first Green Carpet appearance of awards season.

What They Wore... People's Choice Awards 2013

Are you suffering from a touch of the January blues, trying to get used to the setting the alarm again for those early mornings and desperately searching for the fitness bandwagon amongst the leftover Christmas chocolates?! Fear not awards season has kicked off for another year meaning we've a flurry of red carpet outfits and gossip from the ceremonies to look forward to over the next few weeks!

The People's Choice Awards took place in LA on Wednesday evening. Here's a few of my best dressed stars on the night...

Fresh from her split with Harry Styles, Taylor Swift rocked up to the awards looking amazing in a simple yet chic white Ralph Lauren gown with a plunging neckline. Smoky eyes and nude lips complimented her understated look. She accessorised with aqua blue earrings and wore her hair in a braided up-do, a popular hair trend on the night. Not only successful in the fashion stakes, Taylor picked up the award for 'Favourite Country Artist.' Taylor's one of my ones to watch this year, especially on the red carpet where she always seems to get it right!

We're used to seeing Katy Perry in extravagant creations but on Wednesday night she opted for a more toned down look at the People's Choice Awards. She wore a pretty floral embroidered Valentino dress with long sleeves. A very demure look compared to usual for Katy but I think she still looked great! She paired the pretty Valentino dress with black suede Jimmy Choo's and wore a gold headband in her braided up-do. Katy had a winning night taking home the awards for 'Favourite Female Artist', 'Favourite Pop Artist', 'Favourite Music Video' and 'Favourite Music Fan Following.'

Being a big McQueen fan it's no surprise I loved seeing this Alexander McQueen gown from their resort 2013 collection on the red carpet. Naomi Watts looked radiant in the backless design with a colourful Swarovski crystal neckline, gold mesh sequined front and flowing black skirt.

Jennifer Lawrence looked glamorous in a draped black and silver Valentino couture gown with a mesh neckline and raised hem. Her diamond encrusted heels by Nicholas Kirkwood complimented her sparkling look!

Rumer Willis also opted for black and silver on the red carpet. I loved the floor length gown from Alice + Olivia with its diagonal black and silver sequin embellishment and cap sleeves. She carried a silver box clutch, sported smoky eyes and styled her hair in a messy up-do.

'Glee' star Lea Michele stood out in this bright pink lace and sequin mini dress by Elie Saab paired with matching pink Elie Saab sandals. I loved the sparkling dress but think it would have looked better styled without the matching shoes, a tad too much pink for the red carpet!

2012: Best Dressed

Happy New Year! I'd thought I'd start the year with a look back at some of the best dressed celebrities from 2012...

Emma Stone firmly cemented her position in the fashion stakes in 2012. She was one of my ones to watch on the red carpet during awards season and was my best dressed at the Golden Globes in a scarlet Lanvin dress paired with a leather belt. I like how she favours tailored pieces alongside more feminine gowns as seen at the People's Choice Awards back in January and on the red carpet for the 'Amazing Spider-Man' London premiere where she chose an embellished Elie Saab jumpsuit. One of my favourite looks was her outfit for the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards held in New York in November. She wore a sparkling emerald green skirt paired with a midnight blue satin bustier with a peplum waist from Burberry Prorsum's Spring 2013 collection.

Kate Middleton is one of my top style icons. She always looks so glamorous! The Jubilee tour provided a wealth of outfits to lust over, one of my favourites being the teal LK Bennett dress and jacket with a peplum waist styled with a gold buckle belt. I like how she wears pieces from the high street along with designer items and isn't afraid to wear an outfit more than once! Like the duchess I'm also a big fan of Jenny Packham gowns. Kate was snapped at an Olympic gala concert in London wearing a stunning jewelled dress from her SS12 collection with an elegant lace back and shoulders. The Jubilee weekend saw Kate stepping out in red, white and blue. My favourite look from the celebrations has to be the ivory long sleeved lace McQueen dress custom made by Sarah Burton that she wore to St Paul's Cathedral.

I'm a big fan of Florence Welch and love keeping up with what the flame haired beauty has been spotted wearing! She started the year gracing the cover of January's US Vogue Magazine. I admire how she embraces bold prints and statement pieces. I loved the patterned Moschino suit she wore to the NME awards in March. Florence is a renowned Alexander McQueen fan, she wore one of my favourite pieces from McQueen's AW12 collection to the Met Ball in New York in May. I loved the couture style of the dramatic tiers of the gown. Her impressive tour wardrobe for 'Ceremonials' has been designed by Gucci.
