Armery

I was shopping in House Of Fraser on Oxford Street when this display in the Mary Portas collection caught my eye. I was intrigued to discover Armey, described by the retail queen herself as "sculptwear for arms."

Armery is a collaboration between Mary and hosiery specialists Charnos.

Many women feel self conscious about baring the tops of their arms meaning they are limited with their fashion choices, opting to cover up in a dress with sleeves or reaching yet again for a cardigan to hide their arms.

Armery seeks to resolve this problem by providing a versatile cover up for arms designed to be worn under a sleeveless dress or top. They fit around your shoulders like a shrug.

They can give a new look to an outfit and are a great alternative cover up to the usual cardigan.

They are available in plain black ideal for work wear, and bright magenta and indigo to add a splash of colour to your outfit. They're priced at £17.50.
There is also a lace design which is perfect for adding to evening wear available at £21.00.

You can shop the range online or at selected House Of Fraser stores.

What do you think of the concept behind Armery?
Would you wear Armery as part of an outfit?

  2. I'm not sure how I feel about armery, they look so uncomfortable (I'm sure they're not but still...), they just seem so bizarre. Perhaps when I really need them I'll reconsider lol! x

  4. Ooooh they look really cool! I know a lot of ladies are VERY conscious about their arms and this would really be great for them!

    1. Haha I know what you mean, I like the idea behind them but not sure if I'd actually wear them! I think maybe with a different design they'd be more popular! x

  6. It's the bare under arm as in the pits - yes the arm puts.
As these were designed for my age group I can say not impressed - it's just wrong ....
    Sorry Mary

  7. To be honest I think they look stupid! I wouldn't wear these at all - would rather just stick a cardigan on! x

  8. ooo, this is such an interesting idea - if only they looked prettier on! hah, they'd be a good thing to wear under another top though! :) xo

    1. Yeah I think I'd consider wearing them under another top but I wouldn't want to wear them with something sleeveless due to the cut out under arm design, which kind of defeats the purpose of them! x

  9. I think it's interesting but I don't think I'd ever wear it myself.

  10. I think it's a great idea but they could have worked a bit harder on the design as they pretty much just look like you're wearing tights on your arms haha!

    1. Agreed, great concept but the design could do with a re-think! x

  11. Hmmm, I'm not quite sure. I think if they were worn in a less obvious way - so it looks like you're just wearing a dress with sleeves, rather than a separate item I could go for them maybe though!

  12. I watched the tv show and then went to see the store when I was in London. I love the shop but I'm not to sure on the armery, my mum loved it though!

  13. Never heard of these before. I don't know how I feel about them though. I can understand why people would buy these but I definitely think they need to work on the design though, they look very odd in these pictures and a bit too obvious :) xx
