I thought I'd share some of my favourite collections from the recent New York fashion week. With so many talented designers showcasing their Autumn/Winter lines it was hard to pick just a few!
Jason Wu's fiery fall collection featured lots of blacks and reds. There was a military vibe with many structured pieces. The models looked sharp and sleek yet feminine wearing delicate embellishments and fur trims. A number of his pieces featured a gold embroidery motif.
Badgley Mischka presented another stunning collection. I love their elegant designs and can imagine lusting after them on the red carpet. Their figure hugging dresses create a perfect silhouette. The glamorous gowns were shown alongside more structured pieces including a gorgeous black jacket with a fur collar.
Diane von Furstenberg
Diane von Furstenberg's collection included her classic black wrap dress. There was a number of separates on show as well as dresses. There was colour blocking with rich hues such as the gorgeous draped berry jumpsuit paired with the blue jacket. I love the use of prints and simplicity of her designs, the collection seems very wearable.. if only my budget stretched that far!
Marchesa are one of my catwalk favourites. They put on a stunning show featuring many gorgeous couture style gowns. Their collection focused on glamorous fairytale dresses created from luxurious fabrics with intricate embroidery, gold detailing and lace. They're a celebrity favourite at red carpet events and are one of my favourite designers with their dreamlike creations.
Monique Lhuillier's collection also focused on a combination of blacks and reds. I love the shape of the fishtail gown. Leather belts were teamed with many of the dresses. One of my favourite pieces was the tailored tuxedo jacket with leather shoulders and sequined lapels worn over a sheer lace blouse. I'm sure the gowns will be a red carpet favourite with the stars.
