Checked Out

The classic houndstooth print is a hot trend once again. The monochrome pattern has a retro vibe and creates a stylish look.

Kim Kardashian was snapped in NYC earlier this month in a Salvatore Ferragamo dress on her way to an appearance on 'The Today Show'

Nicole Richie attended Disney's Rapunzel event in London wearing a houndstooth dress

Both stars opted for simple cut dresses and kept their accessories to a minimum to show off the print. Kim styled her outfit with black heels and bright red lips letting the pattern stand out.

Amy Winehouse's AW11 Fred Perry Collection has a strong houndstooth influence with many pieces featuring the pattern.

Houndstooth designs are popular on the high street, these are some of my favourite items for introducing houndstooth into your wardrobe.

  4. I've had a houndstooth-printed fedora hat for ages and I could never imagine it would be a trend again! It's a difficult print to pull off in larga amounts, but it's quite nice as an accessory or in small details.

  10. @Cherry It can be hard to wear, an accessory like a houndstooth checked belt or a scarf is a good way to try it out! x

    @Celia Doesn't she always look fab?! Haha that made me laugh out loud about it making your eyes go a bit squiffy, I do see what you mean though! x

    @Michelle I agree it's timeless and looks stylish! x

    @Sara Ooh I bet your fedora looks great! I agree sometimes a little is best rather than overdoing it! x

    @Silvia Glad you're a fan too! :) x

    @Sarah Yeah Nicole looks stunning, as always! I really like the skirt, I imagine it'd look great with black tights and a simple black top! x

    @Hannah Ahh yay, glad you like! x

  20. oh my, I remember this trend being big when I was 16, three years ago. Proof once again that we are constantly recycling trends :') Its a lovely classic print though xxx

  21. @Stevia I think it can be a bit tricky to wear but looks great as a bold statement print dress like Kim's and Nicole's. x

    @Francesca Yeah it always looks classic and stylish. x

    @Ching Haha it is quite a funny name! :) x

    @Jazzy I really like the jacket, it'd stay in style year after year! x

    @Harriet I'd say to keep it simple and let the print stand out, maybe stick to wearing black with it at first if you're unsure. x

    @Laura It can be a hard print to wear, I keep seeing lots of great accesories like the scarf which would be fab for adding a bit of the pattern into your outfit without wearing the full on print! x

    @Sarah Nicole always looks great! I know what you mean about buying it online, I'd rather be able to have a look at it first! x

    @Bonnie It can look a bit busy, I think the key is not to go overboard with it! x

    @Angel Haha I see what you mean, if you look at it for too long it's a bit like a magic eye puzzle! x

    @Fash Boulevard Yeah I want to rush out and buy some houndstooth prints! x

    @Jess I think it'll always keep coming back round as a trend, it really is a great classic print! x
